toogoodtowaste is the leading re-use charity and social enterprise operating in Rhondda Cynon Taf. We reduce waste by collecting re-usable household items and redistributing them via our charity showrooms. The income we raise enables us to help low income households and provide training and volunteering opportunities.

In 2015 we received 294 applications for help which benefited 395 people, supported over 300 volunteers and placements and re-used over 537 tonnes of household items that would have otherwise been destined for landfill. Over 58,000 items were sold and selected for re-use.

Our showrooms offer a wide range of furniture at great prices. From vintage to modern, we have something for every taste and pocket.

Please support our charitable aims by donating your unwanted items or by choosing to buy recycled.

Adrian’s Story

adrian“I joined toogoodtowaste last August because I was recovering from eye surgery after having a cataract operation to regain my confidence to allow me to start looking for work.

During my time at toogoodtowaste I have worked in three different departments, contact centre, transport & customer services; it started off a bit shaky due to my lack of confidence but after trying different departments I finally found a niche for myself in customer services.

Since joining customer services and dealing with customers it has given me the confidence I needed to go out and look for work. I really enjoyed my time here as everyone’s really friendly, it’s also a working environment which again helped me with becoming work ready once again. The experience and skills I have gained from my time volunteering helped me secure my paid employment.

The paid staff and volunteers are always on hand to help if needed and I am going to miss volunteering here but I’m excited to finally be going back to work.

I would definitely recommend volunteering to anyone looking to gain the skills to go into employment as it really helped me with my confidence issue. Should I ever find myself unemployed in the future I will be back.”
